Completing An Inspection

A complete inspection connects project context, control item, attached shared form answers, optional drawing location, and evidence files in one saved record.

Before you begin

  • Make sure you are in the correct project.
  • Confirm the project has an active control plan.
  • Choose the correct category and control item.
  • Confirm the control item has a published shared form attached.
  • Have any required photos, files, or drawing location ready.

Inspection workflow

  1. 1
    Open the control item

Start from the project control plan and select the item you are inspecting.

  2. 2
    Load the attached form

The portal loads the shared form linked to the control item. The submitted form_id must match the control item.

  3. 3
    Answer visible questions

Complete the form in order and follow required, blocking, conditional, and product-field behavior.

  4. 4
Add a drawing location if relevant

Select the drawing or PDF and place a pin when the inspection needs a precise visual location.

  5. 5
    Attach evidence

Add photos or files to the relevant upload fields before submitting.

  6. 6
    Submit the record

The portal saves answers, attachments, drawing information, and project context as the inspection record.

The form must match the control item

Backend validation rejects inspections when the submitted form does not match the selected control item's attached form, or when the form is not published.

After submission

  • Open the inspection detail to confirm answers and attachments were saved.
  • Use the submission code when discussing the record with teammates.
  • If attachment URLs stop loading later, refetch the inspection detail to refresh signed URLs.
  • If an edit is needed, keep existing attachment keys for files you want to retain.
