Workspace seats, access, and billing basics

Seats control who can do paid work inside the workspace. Read-only access remains separate from the people actually creating, reviewing, and managing projects.

Seat logic in practice

Paid seats should be reserved for people doing active project work. Viewers and external stakeholders should only be granted the access they actually need.

  • Active inspectors use seats
  • Reviewers use seats if they approve reports inside BYLT
  • External viewers usually do not need seats
  • Billing follows active subscribed products

How subscriptions affect access

If a product is not active on the workspace, users cannot be assigned into that product flow even if they already hold a seat.

Important

Product activation and seat assignment are related, but they are not the same thing. Activate the right products first.
